I have the honour to advise receipt of the following telegram from Messrs. Jardine Matheson & Co. Ltd., Hongkong, dated 27th instant.

You will notice that (i) is a telegram received

by Messrs. Jardine Matheson & Co. Ltd., Hongkong, from their Shanghai office: (ii) is the reply from Hongkong to Shanghai: and (iii) is a message from Hongkong to me.

"The following is from Shanghai to Hongkong:-

Nanking Government have requested The Jardine Engineering Corporation Ltd. to supply British make military amunition tanks spares and other armaments to be delivered Hongkong for immediate transshipment. by the buyers to Canton.

If you consider it necessary or advisable lease inform Hongkong Government and request Matheson & Co. Ltd. inform Foreign Office our intentions to do the business subject to issue of British Government's Export Permit and Nanking Government Huchao.

In consideration of large Aircraft order placed by Kung with our principals in London and further orders pening have decided politic to conform to requests of Aeronautical Commission Nanking for the Jardine Engineering Corporation Ltd., Hongkong to act as

receiving and forwarding agents for materials consigned to Aeronautical Commission.

Full particulars by first mail but in the meantime may we propose the Jardine Engineering Corporation Ltd. should contact with Kwong Fing of Eurasia Aviation Hongkong Agents of Commission who have been informed of arrangements.

Do not make any substanti 1 payment until you receive confirmation of letter of credit for expenses.

We consider our function straightforward and as free of political unpleasantness as our previous armaments dealings.
